Included in the series of the format Apology by P38 – La Gang, the event will be made of contributions aiming to a collective reflection on how it is structured the relationship between Trap and repression, particularly in the Italian context.
We will think it through starting from a more general perspective, asking how Trap cultures are re-signifying the [neo]colonial power relations between centre and margins, as well as the related transformations which take place in the urban space. This approach will then relate to the very context of Taranto, one of the many southern margins resisting to the structural violence of the socio-ecological crisis.
In this respect, we aim to examine how it comes into being a dominant narrative which is reviving a stigma placing the the Southern Question into a scheme of criminalization and deviation. At the same time, we will raise a more specific case, deeply political, meaning the repressive machine which is hitting the P38 group.
We will try to debate how these transnational cultural movements are not corresponding to the mainstream narration of ‘self-tune, sex, drugs and alcohol’, but they rather tell us about interstices opening up to the tensions between existential redemption and social/spatial segregation, between reappropriation of lives and imageries as ways of resisting to the reiteration of a securitarian and neocolonial management, where racialization, gender and class are the tools of social domination.
This is the overall frame that will host TRAP&INCONTRI&SCONTRI [TRAP&ENCOUNTERS&CLASHES] which will conclude with the lives by YUNG PANINARU, transfemminist trapper, e by ASTORE from P38 – The Gang, as the opening event of the second edition of the CONVOCATORIA ECOLOGISTA.

TRAP AND REPRESSION
We will talk about TRAP AND REPRESSION with Tommaso Sarti, comrade and PhD candidate in Social Sciences at the FISPPA Department of the University of Padova. His research addresses mainly critical studies on youngsters’ subcultures and T[rap] music. Other fields of interest are political violence, detention and the criminal question, and postcolonial studies.

The Theatre of the Oppressed [Teatro do Oprimido] was created by Augusto Boal in Brazil in the 1960s, during the military dictatorship. Boal kept developing this method in Europe where he left to as a political refugee. From such experience he often wrote about the feature of Western society of having brought about one of the worst conditions in his view, meaning the self-repression – the so-called ‘cop-in-the-head’ [flic-dans-la-tête]. Theatre of the Oppressed means to identify the forms of oppression that we experience daily, to break the reflexes which determine our behaviors within given spaces, and our interactions with others.
Theatre of the Oppressed means to train – at times by playing, at times by looking inside oneself – to break the silence in a world made of oppressors and oppressed ones. The workshop will have two sessions, on Sept the 1st and 2nd. Through games and exercises, we will go through subjects concerning the bodies and the territories. Please bring with you comfortable clothes, water, and curiosity.

ECOLOGIES OF THE MARGINS AND THE NARRATIONS OF PROGRESS

The workshop aims to think together through the political sense of marginality in our territories. What does it mean to be bodies-territories at the margins? What is a margin and which is its political potential? In the context of a acquired narration looking at Southern Italian territories as intrinsically ‘backward’, we aim to deconstruct those logics considering alterity as inferiority from an hegemonic vantage point. Which perspectives were offered to the South by the ideology of development?
The overdetermination of the Nation-State continually proposes the work-health blackmail for the sake of the production and circulation of goods, at detriment of the communities. In this contexts, women and nonconforming subjects play a role in the social reproduction which is crucial in spaces of oppression and which can be a vehicle to access speech. How can we respond to the patriotic, patronal, cisheteropatriarcal overdetermination of our South?
We will share some readings [you can bring texts, and even send them in advance to info@convocatoria-ecologista-taranto.org]. In the final part of the workshop we will go through images, sounds, video crossing the ‘wounds’ of our South and of our bodies. How would you represent the marginality of your body-territory?

RETE CAMPAGNE IN LOTTA

The series TENDOPOLY by the network Campagne in Lotta was born from the will to overturn the mainstream narrative regarding labor exploitation, the ghettos, the role of the third sector, the women’s condition – taking the vantage point of those very people working in the agriculture fields and living in the ghettos. The network Campagne in Lotta was created in August 2011 from the encounter between sympathetic comrades and those who took part to the Rosarno’s uprise and Nardo’s strike. The goal was to connect foreign workers from different agro-industrial areas in Italy with militant groups and individuals. The scope of the network is to get to know each other and to coordinate around processes of self-determination and self-organizing leading to the convergence of several field of struggle.

The workshop aims to bring forward the complexities of the relationship between disabled and inflamed bodies, minds and territories while trying to put into question the neoliberal paradigm which reduces the matters to an individual and detachable dimension – with the complicity of the biomedical sight. This is particularly true for the chronical diseases and psychological/psychiatric discomforts.
We do know that the ‘chain of care’ does not end with the diagnosis taking place during the exchange doctor-patient, but it rather includes a series of actors, dispositives and technologies mutually interdependent, especially if considered through a transfeminist queer and ecologist perspective. It’s been decades that groups and collectives opposing the territories exploitation in Taranto publicly report how environmental violence harms self-determination and social reproduction, besides being constitutive of social, economic and gender violence.

WHAT CAN THIS BODY-TERRITORY DO: COORDINATES FOR A MAPPING OF THE COLLECTIVE HEALING

Body and territory are not two opposite realities, but a same «composition of affects, resources and possibilities in relationship with the other bodies and the other non-human forces» [Veronica Vago]. In the daily experience what makes manifest this connection is the persistent violence, the appropriation and the exploitation on the body-territory, which poisons it, deprives it from its vital resources and from its ability to create the [physical, social, psychological, symbolic] ties that are essential for its own regeneration. Nevertheless, at the same time, what really makes this an everyday experience is also what let us get used to it, live through it as a habit that we do not even notice any longer.
Through the feminist practices of self-consciousness, active listening, collective building of the knowledge preserved in the biographies of every participant, the workshop propose a path of sharing and mapping [lived or desired] experiences of relationship to the body-territory based on care as ecological, social, psychological and political principle.
By creating together a ‘cartography of experience’ of the care for the body-territory, the workshop focuses on the resources feeding the net of relationships, and it gives them back to the same community in the form of «another art to inhabit the earth» [Moira Millàn], meaning the collective force towards the healing and the conflict.

TO DECONSTRUCT A MEGA PROJECT: IN-DEPTH INQUIRY WORKSHOP

Which major public planning projects are our territories involved with? How can we foresee its social, environmental and economic impacts? Which interests underlie the funding of a mega project? We will reflect together about the methods that can be useful to build a collective and participative enquiry concerning a mega project. We do believe that understanding the role of spatiality for our daily life goes also through the awareness of its implications in the capital and profit production by the economic system. The ‘production of space’ put in place by Neoliberalism is made manifest also through its ability to plan, through mega projects, the value extraction from entire territories.
We will start from a given case, in the area of Taranto, to share a time of research and investigation offering useful tools to the community. From the presentation of the case-study, we will put into place the outline of what it implies to look at our territories through the lens of profit-making by the economic powers.

ACAB is part of Holdenaccio’s minizines workshop format. “If you strongly dislike something and you would like to shout it out to the world, but if you feel voiceless, why not to draw it?” Every participant will choose a theme, a personal battle experienced daily and through the practice of comics we will get the chance to outline together a manifesto of generational rage. We will see our drawings, our screams, to take shape and grow. We will create the layout through the bending of the minizine so to spread and liberate our feelings.

The plenary will be a collective moment towards the closure of the second edition of the CONVOCATORIA. We do imagine this assembly as a space of self-training and of transversal sharing of the practices and desires that our territories pass down to us.
We wish for this to be a space dedicated to new alliances between us, built not on the basis of our given territorial struggles, but rather of shared aspirations and planning taking shape from the very daily experiences of the communities. We wish to break the simple scheme of restitution of our local struggles in order to share a political horizon of liberation in the way we inhabit our territories. To place the everyday of the struggles at the chore of the political discussion transversally, redefining moments of mobilisations as a result of long-term processes with the communities, to be created, deconstructed and blended collectively.

CANTIERE COMUNE MEDITERRANEO is a cultural and social initiative, a world music orchestra and much more: it is an ever-changing open collective, home to musicians and artists in general. A cross-disciplinary hotbed for research e divulgation of the cultures disseminated throughout and beyond our shared sea. The collective sprouted in the soil of Puglia from young musicians including: accordion, violin, trombone, oud, mandolin, percussions, guitars, doublebass, saz, sax, and vocals.
Fusing live poetry readings with music, the project highlights the literature produced by those pens that risk to be forgotten by the mainstream-focused interest, since they are belittled under the weight of labels such as “foreign” or “folk”. We often ignore that the“foreigners” are our forefathers and that “folk” just refers to us all. At the CONVOCATORIA the orchestra will bring a blend of choirs, dance and readings, with a focus on texts by Mariella Mehr and other authors. The session will bring forward inclusive dancing cercles, blending rom, Balkan, Arbëresh sonorities and opening up to an impro-session [you can bring your instruments if you wish to take part to the jam!].
